Our Story
Four decades of integrated petroleum engineering.
ODEXX was founded in the City of London in 1978 as an independent engineering firm serving the rapidly expanding North Sea. What began as a contractor partnership around a single rig has grown — deliberately, decade by decade — into an integrated operator of platforms, refineries, and pipelines.
We took ownership of our first operated platform in 1986 and added the Antwerp midstream terminal in 1997. In 2008 we patented the ODEX eccentric drilling system, now running on every active platform in our portfolio. Each step has been guided by a simple discipline: own the engineering, own the safety, and own the long-term relationship with the assets and the people who run them.
Today, ODEXX is privately held, headquartered at our offices in central London, and operated by a team of 4,200 engineers, technicians, and support staff across 32 countries. We are a working petroleum company — not a holding structure — and every barrel we lift, refine, or move passes through systems we designed and people we trained.

ODEXX is established to provide independent drilling engineering services to North Sea operators.
1986
First operated platform — North Sea
Transition from contractor to operator with the launch of our first wholly-managed offshore platform.
1997
Antwerp midstream terminal
Acquisition and modernisation of refining and pipeline assets at the Port of Antwerp — Europe's largest petrochemical cluster.
2008
ODEX drilling system patented
Our proprietary eccentric drilling system enters commercial operation, redefining recovery efficiency offshore.
